Web designer Pirkka Rannikko - Freelance web design and services for digital media

My name is Pirkka Rannikko and I work as a web designer. Although I am currently employed and also continuing my studies I do some freelance web design, subcontracting and provide other services for digital media on my free time.

I design web sites for usability and accessibility and use web standards like XHTML and CSS in my work. I build search engine optimized (SEO) sites and enhance them progressively separating content, presentation and behavior from each other. Following these best practices for web design ensures that web sites are accessible, search engine friendly, device independent and easier to update.

Everyone can build a some kind of a web site in a short time using the right tools but it is the education, work experience, passion and perhaps a bit of talent that separates us web designers from the rest.

Services for digital media

Although web design (be that sites or applications for desktop or mobile) is what I know best I also have some experience in project management and video production as well. I can do research or other consulting on digital media for your company as an hourly priced service. Other kinds of services that I can also provide are digital photography and image and video editing from the digital material you deliver.

My usual fee is around 25 euros an hour. This can vary and is always set depending on the project or work at hand.

I work with a freelance tax statement so I am not an entrepreneur in legal or tax terms but you don't have to employ me either. My income tax (according to the freelance tax statement) will be subtracted from the payment but mandatory costs for employers do not apply. I will always make a written tender describing the work or project and the terms and conditions. It needs to be approved (in written too) before the work can start. We can also write a separate project contract explaining the tasks, deliverables, terms and conditions, copyrights and the schedule if more detail is needed.
